Kiekie

I have been given some Kiekie and experimented with weaving her, curious to discover her qualities.


And then I met her deeply in her home soil on the West Coast of New Zealand


Growing abundantly, prolifically, and in full splendor.


All I could do was gasp in delight to see this plant being growing so happily.


I began caress her leaves, observe her growth pattern, notice where she grows best and who grows beside her.


I began to build a relationship with her and to ask if I may weave a basket from her leaves.


She let me know she was delighted to be chosen.
